About Cole

After his undergraduate psychology degree, Cole followed up with MSc Occupational Psychology at Birkbeck College, University of London. For some years, he was chartered as an occupational psychologist, with specialisms in assessment, psychometrics, human-computer interaction, training and careers guidance, also lecturing. After several small research projects for health, business and educational clientele, he took up research on a regular basis, working for different organisations, including research agencies, market research, educational institutions and central government. Much of his recent work has been in the area of market research for charities and educational institutions.

He is best-known as the author of books about statistical testing.

Other written work has spanned training of careers guidance practitioners (still used in South Africa), children's historical fiction (bombed), short stories (did rather better) and applied philosophy (Cole the Obscure).

Other achievements include an MSc in Computer Science. He programs in R, Java and PHP, but also knows SQL, HTML and Visual Basic, with advanced Excel skills - he is also the creator of the CareerSteer career choice diagnostic tool. His work has also included the evaluation of services, web sites and computer tools.

Leisure activities include learning Russian, programming and chess.

Current personal projects include creating a semi-automated cluster analysis package and evaluating Bayesian statistical software.
